Movies That Make You Scratch Your Head is a movie column here at the Unfathomable that makes you do just that; makes you scratch your head and say “what the … ?”
When the hell did they decide to make a Baywatch movie with intentions of getting it onto the big screens? The Wiki has a little information, stating that back in 2004, Jessica Simpson had signed on to play C.J. Parker (Pam Anderson’s character), but the movie never saw the light of day. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said about other Simpson movies.
And it is back from the dead, the Unfathomable Mini-Cast! … QUICK, SHOOT IT IN THE HEAD! But all joking aside, I have decided to do some audio recording again and hope to get past one episode this time. I am looking to do one of these every 3-4 days.
In this inaugural entry, I discuss my time in Fallout 3, the possibility of World of Warcraft’s new expansion, Guillermo Del Toro’s new book The Strain, and Oscar/Academy Award changes.
Honestly, I am not big on the whole social-networking “thing”. I have pretty much steered clear of MySpace and Facebook while dabbling lightly with Twitter. Mostly it is because I tend to be a private in my personal life and those people that I would want to know everything I do I generally talk with on a daily/weekly basis. However, I do know a number of people really dig the YouTwitFace community (the algamation of YouTube-Twitter-Facebook, thanks to Conan O’Brien).
It came as a surprise that one of my favorite directors, David Fincher, is taking on the tale of Facebook’s rise. Certainly an interesting choice for the man-behind-the-lens for Se7en, The Game, and Fight Club.
More on possible actors attached to the project after the break …

Well, it figures it would take something wacky to bring me back and here it is.
Variety is reporting that Sean Penn will be taking the role of Larry in the upcoming Farrelly brothers movie, The Three Stooges. Not only that, but “sources” are reporting that casting for Moe and Curly is being targeted towards Benecio Del Toro and Jim Carrey, respectively.
Says Variety, “the film is not a biopic, but rather a comedy built around the antics of the three characters that Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Howard played in the Columbia Pictures shorts.”
The Remake Train Rolls On is a column here at The Unfathomable dedicated to shining a light on media that is set to be “remade”; Some are good, most are bad, but all deserve a /facepalm
The Hollywood Reporter wrote today that Warner Bros. and some others are in discussion on remaking the 1985 fantasy movie The Neverending Story.
The people behind the talks with Warner include The Kennedy/Marshall Co. and Leonard DiCaprio’s Appian Way. Warner had recently procured the rights to the property. Insiders are quoted as saying “that it is in its early stages and that writers have not been attached.”
Variety today reported for a bevee of their upcoming finals from Fall 2009 through 2011. Movie dates revealed include Sherlock Homes (Robert Downie Jr., Jude Law), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Couple of Dicks (Robin Williams), Green Lantern and more. Check out the list after the jump.
I remember hearing something vaguely about this over the years, but Marvel made it official this morning when they announced that Peter Parker, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man would be coming to Broadway in 2010. It will be entitled “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark”
Not only that, but it will feature music by U2’s Bono and the Edge. Tony award-winning director Julie Taymor (”The Lion King,” Across The Universe) will be at the reigns and will also add music along with the pop rock vets. Casting for parts will be released in the future . Tickets will first be available in June 2009 and the musical will premier February 18, 2010 after preview showings in January.
Sequel announcements are a dime a dozen, but every once and a while, one will truly give me goose bumps. Today, that has happened.
During the annual DICE summit, Electronic Arts and Spicy Horse announced a next-gen version of American McGee’s Alice. First reported by Joystiq, EA’s CEO John Riccitiello made the announcement, which was twittered by Geoff Keighly. David DeMartini, senior vice president and general manager of EA Partners, had the following to say in a press release:
American McGee’s interpretation of Alice was an instant classic, and EA Partners is ready to help him bring his innovative vision for the franchise to even darker, more exciting places.
